World’s Longest Book Tour and Connections

World’s Longest Book Tour and Connections

It was a rainy, dreary afternoon tinged with irrepressible winter cold. The kind that made you think wool socks would have been a better choice than the lime green cotton ones from your very good friend you were missing.

That’s what was going on when I saw The World’s Longest Book Tour fly from my fingers to the screen. It had some hopeful hubris laced into it. Maybe I didn’t have Random House chartering a plane to take me from one bookstore to another, but my book tour would last longer and go more places than they could ever imagine.

So I’m admitting that The World’s Longest Book Tour is trying to prove something. We’re going to do it better than the Big Leaguers. We might be rookie book peddlers, but we’ve got ambition, a huge family tree and an enormous Christmas card list to guide us on the way. That’s what makes us different. For example, one of David’s bridge friends, Don, was at last Sunday’s reading. He was so enthusiastic that he put us in touch with his sister Judy in Winchester, Virginia. Add one stop.

Feast your eyes upon our interactive Book Tour map at the end of the Blog. If you see that we’re going to a city where your first husband lives or maybe your first cousin, let them know.

The soul of our success being innkeepers has been connection. Help keep connection happening by letting your friends and family and ex-relatives know when we’re going to blow into their town.

The comic strip above took some of the wind out of my sail when I paused to think just how long that particular book tour’s been ongoing. Maybe ours wouldn’t be, couldn’t be, wasn’t the World’s Longest Book Tour.  But then I realized that we could just lengthen the itinerary a little and keep on going…and going.

Onward we go. I’ll be blogging all along the way.
